I'm selling the ship because we're going to buy an old house and want to renovate it ourselves. We therefore don't have time to sail for the next few years.
Where have you been sailing (sailing area)?
Netherlands; IJsselmeer, Markermeer, Waddenzee.
Since when are you the owner of the yacht? How many owners?
I'm the second owner since 2015.
Has the yacht been without any accident?
The ship suffered minor storm damage (by the previous owner) and was professionally repaired at the time.
What can you tell about the sailing characteristics?
We find her from day one a very nice ship. The ship has a lovely spacious cockpit which is cleverly arranged making it enjoyable to sail, even with children. Moreover, the yacht has a sundeck, unique for a sailing ship of this size. The yacht is stable and can sail sharply to the wind. In a sailing race you should not be ashamed of this ship, you quickly sail 8 to 9 knots. Inside it is a good place to be and spacious. As a family, we enjoy going on holiday with it.
How is the yacht maintained, are there any invoices available concerning the maintenance?
A lot of maintenance has been carried out and everything is neatly maintained, invoices are available.
Was the yacht regularly ashore during winterperiods? Every year?
The ship was every winter ashore.
What is the boat name and the (special) meaning of this name?
The name is Blue Ray, we found it suitable because of the elegant shape of the boat.
We've always thought this was a special ship, because only five of them were built. That way you really sail something unique. The yacht was designed by the same architect as Grand Soleil, so you will find some similarities with a Grand Soleil of those years and size. The shipyard stopped making this ship because it was too expensive to build, due to the choice of materials.
