- What’s the reason for selling the yacht?
- It is 25 years ago that I was inspired to own a boat that could take me anywhere. As a result I built Full Moon myself from scratch (a design of Hoek Design Naval Architects). After her launch in 2000, I considered to go on a 2 (or more) year trip. Instead of starting the trip,I started regular work again and kept the trip as "plan-B". I still very much enjoy working and I've come to the conclusion that I probably won't take Full Moon for the long trip I had in mind 25 years ago.
- Where have you been sailing (sailing area)?
- Due to the little time I had in the (coastal) waters of Zeeland (The Netherlands)
- Since when are you the owner of the yacht? How many owners?
- I am and have been the owner of Full Moon since she was lanched in 2000.
- Has the yacht been without any accident?
- Full Moon has not been involved in any accident.
- What can you tell about the sailing characteristics?
- With a sail area of 121 m. and a weight of 13.500 kg she needs little wind to bring her to hull speed. The semi-balanced spade rudder is the reason that she steers without effort. When the sail is properly trimmed she will keep a steady course with very little (or no) effort of the helm.
- How is the yacht maintained, are there any invoices available concerning the maintenance?
- All periodic maintenance has been carried out by me. In 2014 the hull and deck were painted. In 2020 antifouling was renewed of which the invoice(s) are available.
- Was the yacht regularly ashore during winterperiods? Every year?
- Full Moon was only placed ashore for the renewal anti-fouling.
- What is the boat name and the (special) meaning of this name?
- The name "Full Moon" has a special meaning (to me). I had planned to build her in a period of 2 years. While building her each time I saw the full moon, I knew I had 1 month less.
- Other remarks:
- Full CE documentation is available an earlier this year (2022) a CE certificate of conformity was issued.
Finally: "Managing expectations"
Depending on what you find important in a boat, her beautiful classic line? her pedigree (Hoek Design)? her sailing qualities? ............ the interior finishing? As it stands the interior suits my needs. Eg. the cabin door pannels are available but were not fitted. You have the opportunity to enhance to suit your taste and needs.
