What’s the reason for selling the yacht?

The boat is being sold because we have enjoyed it tremendously over the past three years. We have loved the journeys, the adventures, and the beautiful moments it has brought us. But now, with new adventures and other priorities, we find that there’s too little time left to truly enjoy the boat. That’s why we’ve decided to sell it, so that a new owner can experience as much joy with it as we have.

Where have you been sailing (sailing area)?

The sailing area of the boat includes the Markermeer, the IJsselmeer, and the Wadden Sea.

Since when are you the owner of the yacht? How many owners?

We are the second owners of the boat since 2021. The first owners were a German couple who took great care of the boat and maintained it excellently. This is evident in the interior of the boat.

Has the yacht been without any accident?

Yes

What can you tell about the sailing characteristics?

The boat has excellent sailing and handling characteristics. It is easy to operate, making it simple to sail alone or with two people. In light winds, the boat is fast and agile, while in heavier weather, it is well-handled and easy to reef, ensuring a safe and comfortable sailing experience in various conditions.

How is the yacht maintained, are there any invoices available concerning the maintenance?

There is verifiable maintenance that has been performed on the boat. Since we sail with small children, we have always placed great importance on safety. Therefore, we have regularly serviced the engine and also replaced the rigging and the saildrive boot. Invoices for this work are available.

Was the yacht regularly ashore during winterperiods? Every year?

The boat has been on the hard every two years, with the last time being from 2023 to 2024, during which the antifouling was done.

What is the boat name and the (special) meaning of this name?

The boat’s name is Schamal. The ship was named by the previous owners. In some Afghan dialects, particularly in Dari and Pashto, “Schamal” has a meaning related to wind. In the region, “Shamal” often refers to a strong northwesterly wind that occurs in the Middle East and parts of South Asia, including Afghanistan.

Other remarks:

We have renewed the mattresses in the cabins. They are particularly comfortable, and in the forepeak, I extended the bed with a foldable section. This allows the bed to extend to 2.4 meters. I am 1.94 meters tall, and it sleeps excellently.
