- What’s the reason for selling the yacht?
- We are selling our Meester B, because we are going to continue sailing through Europe in a motorboat, a Barkas.
- Where have you been sailing (sailing area)?
- We have been to Norway, Sweden, Denmark, England, Germany, Belgium, and Northern France during the school holidays. Thanks to the electric roller furling jib, digital radar, and autopilot, the Meester B is very suitable for long voyages.
- Since when are you the owner of the yacht? How many owners?
- We bought the Meester B new in 2007, so we are the first owner.
- Has the yacht been without any accident?
- Last year, I had keel damage in Sweden, which was repaired in Vastervik at Pampas Marina Vastervik AB; invoices and photos are available. According to the shipyard, the Meester B is stronger than before the accident.
The underwater hull was immediately stripped bare and restored to like-new condition using 5 layers of primer and anti-fouling. This was done in consultation on-site with the claims expert from TVM Insurance from Heerenveen.
- What can you tell about the sailing characteristics?
- The ship handles and sails excellently. It is precisely the deep keel that allows it to sail close to the wind.
We ourselves often use only the genoa, which runs up to the sprayhood; with the electric furling motor, it is easy to furl and unfurl. - How is the yacht maintained, are there any invoices available concerning the maintenance?
- The boat has been serviced by, among others: Jacht Service Enkhuizen, Jan Hofstede rigger, Makkum,
Roelof Vellinga Grutte Grize Jachtservice Makkum, Jachtservice Hoorn, Volvo Penta dealer, UK de Vries Sails, Makkum and Rake Rigging BV, rigging company Medenblijk. Invoices available.
- Was the yacht regularly ashore during winterperiods? Every year?
- Every year and a half, the Master B has been dry-docked for anti-fouling and hull polishing.
- What is the boat name and the (special) meaning of this name?
- The Meester B is named after my primary school teacher. He himself wanted to sail, but back then you weren't allowed to if you wore glasses. On free afternoons, he would take interested pupils to the Westeinder near Aalsmeer to teach us how to sail. His daughter Annemarie christened the boat.
