- More than sufficient
INTERVIEW WITH SELLER
- What’s the reason for selling the yacht?
- We have sailed wonderfully in recent years.
We have made beautiful sailing trips. But now, we have entered a new phase of our lives.
We have become grandparents.
After long deliberation we decided that we cannot combine long journeys with the enjoyment of grandchildren. We are going to organize our sailing wishes in a different way.
- Where have you been sailing (sailing area)?
- This ship is really suitable for long journey's.
The North Sea and The Channel, Bay of Biscay, the North Atlantic Ocean with possibly a crossing to America. - Since when are you the owner of the yacht? How many owners?
- We are the second owner since 2009.
- Has the yacht been without any accident?
- What can you tell about the sailing characteristics?
- Perfectday is a fantastic ship to sail.
We made a sailing trip from 2011 to 2013.
Crossed from Scheveningen to Engeleland, from England to Boulongne and Brest in France, from Brest to La Corouna in Spain.
From La Corouna we descended along the Protugese coast to the Azores and the Canary Islands.
In Portugal we had wind force 7/8 for two days. The ship and sails have held up well.
In 2015, we sailed one in Dutch waters, from Medemblik to Friesland and the Wadden Islands of Den Helder.
In light winds the "Fat lady" our Asymmetric spinnaker gave us a push towards Den Helder.
In the meantime, we made short trips across the IJsselmeer from Medemblik. In 2021 we visited the Wadden Islands for the seccond time.
- How is the yacht maintained, are there any invoices available concerning the maintenance?
- We have gradually rebuilt the ship to our wishes since 2009.
In 2010 we had most of the adjustments made for our sailing trip.
The entire electrical installation, navigation instruments, electric winches and autopilot have been renewed.
The teak deck was laid by Marron Jachtbouw in Medemblik.
New battery sets have been installed.
The toilet and shower and the main cabin have been renovated.
The mattresses and the seating area in the cabin have been renewed by Naptune Nautic Comfort. The storage hut still needs some attention.
The port cabin is equipped as a storage place for long journeys but can be converted into a 2 person cabin.
In 2013 we had a bow thruster installed in Monickendam.
In 2019 we replaced the mast with a furling mast and replaced the mainsail and genoa.
so that the sails can be operated from the cockpit.
In 2019 we had two small hatches placed in the cockpit.
The cockpit was painted in 2017.
The hull and the underwater hull were painted in 2018-2019.
In 2020, one part of the battery set was replaced.
- Was the yacht regularly ashore during winterperiods? Every year?
- We have had her on shore regularly for painting maintenance and to spend the winter in a covered shed at De Klerk in Medemblik.
- What is the boat name and the (special) meaning of this name?
- The boat name is Perfect Day.
After our first sailing trip with our father-in-law, his reaction was, "it was a perfect day". We love to come up with names that refer to a song.
The chorus of Perfect day, written by Lou Reed, fits well with the wonderful experiences we have had with our ship.
"Oh, it's such a perfect day
I'm glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
Just a perfect day
Problems all left alone
Weekenders on our own
It's such fun
