LOCATIE
INTERVIEW WITH SELLER
- What’s the reason for selling the yacht?
- Combination oif age and health. Now a bit extreme doublehanded, so have downsized to a more manageable boat.
- Where have you been sailing (sailing area)?
- Primarily North Sea and Channel/South Coast for Dutch and RORC offshore competitions.
- Since when are you the owner of the yacht? How many owners?
- Since 2017. Boat was commissioned for Colm Barrington as Gloves Off, later sold and renamed Rockall IV.
- Has the yacht been without any accident?
- One grounding, on sand/beach. Primarily cosmetic and pride damage, but for security had the keel dropped and the bolts dye tested.
- What can you tell about the sailing characteristics?
- A joy to sail, like a big dingy. We used her as a training boat for young Laser/Opti sailors to blood them on a proper keelboat. Success in club races with 14-16 year olds helming and trimming. Very stable, combination of ballast ratio and form stability, which playted into selecting her to campaign doublehanded - with solid results in IRC 1 against fully crewed boats.
- How is the yacht maintained, are there any invoices available concerning the maintenance?
- A range of old and new invoices. Hauled annually to inspect, sand and refresh antifouling, and change anode. Oil and impeller changed annually.
- Was the yacht regularly ashore during winterperiods? Every year?
- Ashore a week to 10 days every Spring, due to Winter racing series.
- What is the boat name and the (special) meaning of this name?
- A double entendre - a double edge sword as a weapon, and an 'edge' for doublehanded sailing.
- Other remarks:
- A serial winner across competitions and disciplines - ORC and IRC, fully-crewed and doublehanded, regattas and offshore races. Bullet-proof kevlar/epoxy hull. Would benefit from some cosmetic work and partial refit, but in solid condition.
