Your Christmas card came yesterday, which reminded me I never wrote to you thanking you for your help in the purchase of Quinta HR 312 from Jan Lamsvelt last December.
Buying abroard, even in Holland, is difficult, but you made this process as smooth as can be expected. Apart from the problem with my debit card, there were no hitches. I motored away from Muidezand in strong winds and made Sixhaven without incident. My brother and nephew arrived from Philadelphia US next day and spent most of the day asleep. We set off in cold bright weather for Middleburg which took 31/2 days via Leiden( near by) Willamstad, Veer. Willamstad was interesting. My nephew turns out to be good at darts and beat the local champion in the town pub. The free beer took its toll! We had a bumpy ride to Ostende and I decided to leave Quinta there as my brother was not fit for a cross channel trip. Also my nephew had to get back to the office. No 1 son drove over and collected us and I drove back with No 2 son 10 days later and we had a good crossing to Harwich. I then flew and trained back to Ostende to pick up my car.
I had Quinta out of the water straight away and fitted an Easireef main furling attachment to the mast, together with a new main. Also a Vetex bow thruster to help me single handing, but the boat handles so well it has hardly been used. Moved the main sheet traveller forward of the windscreen to free up the cockpit. Have just completed a hot water system. Now I know why it was never fitted? Tried to fit an alarm to the depth sounder, but without success, so after running aground have decided to fit ST 40 instruments.
I am realy pleased with Quinta and wish I had bought a HR312 years ago. The work that Jan did makes my expenditure worth while. Quinta must now be the best 312 not for sale.
I hope your business continues to flourish, and that you have some savings for the difficult times ahead. Your staff couldn't have been more helpful. My compliments to Jan for 2009
